Art Deco Wedding at the Pfister Hotel with a Stunning Emerald Green Wedding Dress

When the bride is a designer and a musician, this art deco wedding infused with an emerald green wedding dress, engagement ring, custom signs, menus, and a seating chart display designed by the bride herself, are just a few that make Delaney + Jonathan’s celebration incredibly unique with a sophisticated style. The Pfister Hotel in downtown Milwaukee was a perfect venue with its historic European charm of vintage chandeliers, marble, and gold accents.

The Pfister Hotel in downtown Milwaukee was a perfect venue (after changing venues) with its historic European charm of vintage chandeliers, marble, and gold accents. Did we mention there was also a tarot card reader? The icing on the cake was when the bride, a former backup singer for Barbara Streisand, serenaded her new hubby during dinner on a grand piano. I could relive that moment every day - it was truly the most magical and pull at your heart-strings moment. Scroll through this beautiful imagery from Anna Page Photography for all the pretty details.

8 Details Couples Often Forget When Planning Their Lake Chelan Wedding

There are a thousand and one details to think about when planning your Lake Chelan wedding. Trust us, we get it! There are even smaller details that we often see couples forget, which is why we thought we would round up eight details right here to take note for your upcoming wedding.

There are a thousand and one details to think about when planning your Lake Chelan wedding. Trust us, we get it! There are even smaller details that we often see couples forget, which is why we thought we would round up eight details right here to take note for your upcoming wedding.

1. CEREMONY SOUND

Photography: Twig + Olive

This is by far the number one detail that gets missed. Whether you are planning an indoor or outdoor ceremony, ensuring your DJ is booked to provide your ceremony sound, meaning a microphone, speakers and music are essential. Guests cannot hear you without a mic and speakers, in addition to needing music for both the ceremony processional and recessional. A professional DJ can handle all of these musts. If you opt for an alternative string quartet or pianist, check with your venue if they offer in-house audio services to provide a microphone and speaker for during the ceremony.

2. INCLUDING YOUR BRIDAL PARTY + VENDORS IN YOUR FINAL GUEST COUNT

Photography: Abbots Lane

In the final weeks leading up to your wedding, you will need to send in your final guarantee or guest count to your caterer. Ensure that this final guest count includes you as a couple, your bridesmaids, groomsmen, and any vendors who will be on-site during your dinner. This may include your DJ, photographer, videographer, wedding planner, and any of their assistants.

3. MARRIAGE LICENSE

Photography: Twig + Olive

Applying for your marriage license is a must for you to be legally married. In Washiongton, it is not necessary to purchase your marriage license from the same county in which you will be married. A marriage license purchased in any Washington county will be valid for ceremonies performed anywhere within Washington State.

4. PAYING + TIPPING VENDORS

Photography: Abbots Lane

Vendors typically require you pay your balance in full before your wedding. Most require a deposit at the time of booking and then the final balance is due 60 days or less leading up to the final weeks of your day. However, in some cases, for example, if your bar services is a charge on consumption, your final bar tab will be charged after your wedding is closed out the next day or the following business day. While tipping is completely up to your discretion if you feel your vendors went above and beyond your expectations, they will always appreciate a tip. Caterers or in-house venue food + beverage staff already charge you a 20% (on average) gratuity so that is already accounted for. Think DJ’s, parking, photographers or any vendors ensuring your day is running smoothly throughout.

5. VIDEOGRAPHER

Videography: After Hours Photography

As a Lake Chelan wedding planner, this is the number one regret I hear couples mention after their wedding wishing they had hired a videographer. In this day and digital age, video captures priceless moments in both audio and visual unlike any other. Videographers can overlap speeches, music, and slides all into one giving you a highlight video that will bring you to tears. Videographers are worth their weight in gold and you will not regret it! You can never get back your wedding day and video you can re-live over and over for your entire life to come.

6. WATER SERVICE OR STATION

Photography: Abbots Lane

Always ensure your guests are staying hydrated on top of the tasty signature cocktails, local Lake Chelan wine, or other beverages on tap. Check with your caterer to see if they offer water service at the table or in the very least, set up a self-serve water dispenser station by the bar.

7. FLOWERS FOR PARENTS + GRANDPARENTS

Photography: Twig + Olive

It is always a special touch providing your parents and grandparents a floral piece to wear. Think boutonnieres for the Dads and a wrist corsage or floral hairpiece for the Moms. Ask them if they have a preference to pair with their attire and then chat with your florist about the details adding it to your floral list.

8. THANK YOU SPEECH

Photography: Katie Schubert

Always ensure you as a couple say a special thank you to all of your guests for traveling and being part of your special day. It can be short and sweet and done at the very beginning or the very end of the speeches during dinner.

Beautiful camp cookies were homemade by the bride and it was all captured in the elegant imagery by Becca Dilley. 7 Outdoor Lake Chelan Wedding Planner Tips

Calling all you outdoor enthusiasts! Outdoor weddings are our jam and these days, most couples are planning their ceremony or reception or both outdoors. There are a lot of factors to consider, especially with the ups and downs of good ol’ mother nature. That is why we wanted to break down seven key Lake Chelan wedding planner tips for you right here.

Calling all you Washington outdoor enthusiasts! Outdoor weddings are our jam and these days, most couples are planning their ceremony or reception or both outdoors. There are a lot of factors to consider, especially with the ups and downs of good ol’ mother nature. We wanted to break down seven key Lake Chelan wedding planner tips for you right here.

  1. Backup Weather Plan

Ensure you have a backup plan in case of inclement weather. Whether you rent a tent, have a house, pavilion-like structure, or an outbuilding on-site. In either space, find out what type of power supply is available and work with your DJ or entertainment vendor to find out what power needs they require.

2. Shade

Have umbrellas or individual fans for guests in case it turns out to be 100 degrees+.

3. Weigh Down or Adhere Lightweight Items

Whether you have any type of dinnerware settings, place cards, small signage, or other lightweight items, you will want to weigh them down or adhere them with tape in case it is windy. Even if it is just slightly windy, it can easily blow items right off the tables. Think candles, too. Ensure the candle flame is enclosed in a votive holder or other glass cylinder so it doesn’t blow out by the wind.

4. Keep Guests Hydrated

Always keep your guests hydrated with a water station or several stations if it is planning to be a hot day. It can be self-serve with a water dispenser as shown above if your caterer doesn’t offer water service.

5. Spray for Bugs

Madison wedding planner floral design

Depending on where your wedding is or if there has been a lot of rain, mosquitoes may be at their worst as it gets close to dusk. So be sure to spray for bugs or ask the venue if they spray. If not, you will want to bring in bug zappers, bug spray, and other bug repellents.

6. Dog-Friendly

Outdoors also means dog-friendly in most cases. Be sure to check with your venue or landowner about their dog policies.

7. Lighting

Installing lighting for that dance party after dusk ambiance is a must! Pictured above is a lighting structure custom-built by my handy carpenter of a Dad with string cafe globe lighting. Again, this is where you need to be sure there is power supply nearby. Some venues supply lighting, so be sure to ask.

There is so much that goes into planning an outdoor wedding, and we would love nothing more than to take the stress off of you by coming on board as your Lake Chelan wedding planner so you can be at ease on your wedding day. We want to ensure you know that no matter what unexpected things come our way the day of your wedding with weather or other shortcomings, you won’t even know. We’re your little “magical wedding fairies” as one of my brides described, working behind the scenes to ensure everything goes off without a hitch.

All white garden florals with lush greenery give a classic and elegant feel to this gorgeous intimate Wisconsin wedding at Huser Farm. With beautiful country views and a minimalist aesthetic, Whitney + Steve’s celebration is one we can't get enough of. Well, due to COVID, their wedding was the only affair of ours that did move forward and not get canceled or postponed. Having met these two over a year ago over cheese curds and beer, it leaves my heart so full to work with and become what seems like “family” with them even after their wedding passes. So helping design a day equal parts elegant and inviting was a dream as their wedding planner. Certain safety precautions were taken with a much smaller guest list for an intimate ambience, insanely delish wood-fire oven pizzas from pizza truck, Rustique Pizzeria, bite-sized cheesecake and cookies from Artistic Cakes + Cookies all served individually to each guest, and hand sanitizer stations throughout just to name a few. Endless inspiration artfully shot by the talented Abbots Lane Photography and a highlight wedding film by After Hours Photography awaits you in the full gallery below.

Intimate Wedding in the Rolling Hills at Hidden Meadow and Barn Infused with Dusty Lavender

The beauty of the rolling hills along the Mississippi River in this intimate destination La Crosse wedding at Hidden Meadow and Barn we had a dream of planning, pretty much left us speechless. With a beautiful modern meets rustic airy farmhouse style to the venue, it sure was a wow-worthy reception with mismatched china table settings, long wood harvest tables with trailing greenery not to mention a dreamy outdoor ceremony meadow with natural grasses in full bloom. Florals were infused with garden roses and scabiosa in the prettiest dusty lavender, a hint of burgundy anemones, dried hops, and French lavender. View the full gallery below to see why this Upper Mississippi River Valley has become a true Midwest wedding AND wine destination - and as I like to say, a little slice of Wisconsin heaven.

The beauty of the rolling hills along the Mississippi River in this intimate destination as Emelye + Nick’s wedding planner at Hidden Meadow and Barn, we had a dream of planning, pretty much left us speechless. Inspired by their venue, Emelye + Nick kept the overall wedding day look very minimalist allowing Hidden Meadow and Barn’s natural character and ambience shine through. With a beautiful modern meets rustic airy farmhouse style to the venue, it sure was a wow-worthy reception with msimatched china table settings from Shindig Marvel, long wood harvest tables with trailing greenery not to mention a dreamy outdoor ceremony meadow with natural grasses in full bloom. Our design in the florals was infused with garden roses and scabiosa in the prettiest dusty lavender, a hint of chocolate anemones, dried hops, and French lavender. Guests sipped on local favorites, Toppling Goliath Pseudo Sue and Spotted Cow while playing lawn games during cocktail hour before dining on artisanal-style cuisine made of fresh local ingredients served from food truck, Gastrotruck Catering. The evening finished on a sweet note with a naked cake and cookies with edible lavender from bakery, Meringue, to roasting s’ mores by the fire.

When neutral is anything but plain with an old world European charm and a layer of modern lovely woven in - all right here in the Wisconsin countryside in today’s feature of Chateau Louis Belle’s private label wine release event. A private label of my very own wine I have been working on since last September’s harvest in my spare time when I am not planning weddings. Just when you thought Wisconsin was only known for beer and cheese, today, we are celebrating the incredible booming wine industry that has taken off in recent years here in the Dairyland state. All thanks to cool-climate grapes, some cultivated through the University of Minnesota and others that are native to the U.S. that can grow right here in Wisconsin and withstand our cold harsh winters. It’s a really beauuuuutiful thing to pay patronage to all the ahh-mazing local wineries here that are putting Wisconsin on the map for producing quality tasting wines with locally grown, cold-hardy grapes.

So pour yourself a glass of vino, settle in and take a peek through this imagery filled with earthy, organic touches we crafted in the floral design and details like the stationery and signage that soften out the edges and pull you in. All while serving guests Spanish tapas, signature sangria cocktails served on a Parisian style bar cart and dinner Al fresco style with Neapolitan pizzas and European mini desserts.

Guests were invited to taste six different wines as listed on the wine tasting menu for them to follow along during the presentation. These varieties were: Delaware, Niagara, La Crescent, Rosé, Apple and Frontenac.

Parisian style meets French country with this signature sangria station with both a red and a white wine - the Louis Sangria or the Belle Sangria. Crafted with cool-climate wines from Lunch Creek Winery in Neshkoro, as a special thank you to Lyn, who has been such an incredible mentor to me in my journey of winemaking over the last year.

With 130+ wineries here in Wisconsin, we have the incredible Wisconsin Winery Association that promotes and produces an annual guide, map and directory to serve as your playbook for visiting and tasting area wineries throughout the state.

My heart is so, so full to be surrounded by the most amazing circle of family and friends who attended my first ever, wine release. Your support means the world as I embark on this exciting wine venture!

A HUGE thank you to my incredibly amazing parents who helped me pull this event off putting in lots of hours of planning, hauling, lifting, moving, prepping and everything in-between that goes into executing an event of any size. It truly is a labor of love - could not have done it without them.

Garden roses have become a personal fave in our design concepts - artfully curating each bouquet by hand and when these garden roses open, the intricate details of their lush petals are a showstopper in itself. We love designing the organic and natural textures in each bouquet to mimic what the roses actually look like as you see them growing in a garden. We enjoy time spent going out into the garden to freshly pick a lot of other foliage and flowers used in our bouquets.

These Lake Chelan wedding planner tips also pertain to your overall wedding budget as well to use as a guidebook.

You’re engaged, congrats! Now, the very next step is determining a budget before planning any other details. And let’s be real, unless you live where “money grows on trees”, you will have to make some compromises on certain details to stay within your budget. Are either parents contributing or are you footing the bill for most of you own wedding? Once you come up with a budget, the key is to sticking to it so you aren’t putting yourself into debt for years to come. Here are 5 ways to cut down on costs when planning your flower budget while still achieving a show-stopping look. These Lake Chelan wedding planner tips also pertain to your overall wedding budget as well to use as a guidebook.

DSC_0458french (1)resize.jpg

1. NUMBER OF GUESTS

This is the most crucial way to cut your costs by keeping the size of your guest list down. 100 guests or 300 guests? The lower number of guests, means less food, beverages, linens, and flowers, and depending on the venue could also mean renting fewer tables and chairs. The average size wedding is typically around 120 guests in our experience.

2. BRIDAL PARTY SIZE

Choosing fewer bridesmaids and groomsmen or not having a bridal party at all can cut down heavily on the cost of bouquets, boutonnieres, hair, makeup, bridesmaid/groomsmen gifts you have to buy and rehearsal dinner just to name a few. These costs can really add up so discuss with your future hubby or wifey to determine if that’s something you really feel necessary or desire.

20190601_StacyDerek_0300.jpg

3. SEASON

The time of year your wedding is will determine what flowers are in season and the costs. So if there are certain blooms you have your heart set on such as dreamy garden roses, peonies or dahlias, the cost per stem can make a difference and whether they are grown local here or if Lake Chelan wedding florists have to pay shipping costs from other growers in warmer countries and climates. And full disclosure, there are some flowers that just cost more than others no matter the season or location source.

These freshly cut wildflowers of Queen Anne’s Lace from our field bring added texture and filler to these fluttery ranunculus and garden roses.

DSC_0132.jpg

4. SIZE AND SCALE

In addition to the size of your wedding guests, this also trickles down to the size and scale of your bouquets, centerpieces and other floral statement pieces such as your ceremony arch or arbor. The smaller the bouquet or centerpiece, the lower the cost will be as less flowers will have to be used. Taller centerpieces also require taller vases which also cost more per vase. With greenery garland, another factor is if you want true garland or just want the look of the greenery garland trailing down the center of the table by simply laying sprigs of greenery down it. This can greatly impact the cost as making garland not only requires more greenery but more labor to make the garland further making it more expensive.

IMG_9511.jpg

5. RE-PURPOSE

Double-duty your florals. Re-purposing your ceremony altar, arch/arbor flowers or chair florals by setting them out within your reception space following the ceremony.

When it comes to planning a wedding, there can be a few gray areas where questions arise. Manners matter, especially on the most important day of your life! But how do you deal with those sticky situations that will inevitably come up along the way? What is appropriate and what is not when it comes to the guest lists, invite wording, dress code, the new age of social media and more. As a Lake Chelan wedding planner expert, I’m here to weigh in and provide you with some answers on the do’s and don’ts all right here.

1. Is it ok to post our wedding details such as room block, timeline, transportation etc. on Facebook, Instagram or other social media platforms?

As a general rule of thumb in the new age of social media, unless you’re planning to invite all of your Facebook friends or Instagram followers to your wedding, you should not post details about your wedding on social media. Instead, having a wedding website is a great private domain to put all the fun dets about your wedding and including the website url on the save-the-date or invitation. Posting on social media publicly can open a whole new can of worms, especially if your second or third cousin, Tracy sees your post but isn’t actually invited. This may not only hurt her feelings, but. she may even comment on the post and ask if she can come, which puts you in even more of any awkward situation. So keeping these details on a private wedding website is the best etiquette when communicating wedding details to your invited guests and not the whole world.

2. Do I have to include a plus one when inviting friends or cousins who aren’t married?

It really all comes down to if your budget allows for plus ones. But as a general rule of thumb, unless your cousin or friend is in a serious relationship for 6+ months or longer, or you are close with their plus ones, it is perfectly ok for you to invite just your friend or cousin and not include a plus one.

3. Do I have to send a separately addressed invitation to adult children living at home with their parents/away at college at a dorm or just address one invitation to the whole family?

While it may certainly save a few dollars in invitations and stamps, you should always address a separate invitation to each adult child within a family, even if they are living at the same address as their parents or away at college living in a dorm. This not only rest assures that each adult child receives the invitation (parents may open the envelope since it is addressed to them but then forget to tell their children) but also if you are inviting them and a plus one, proper invitation addressing is to Mr. Jesse Watkins and guest. It would get way complicated addressing to the entire family and plus ones and each adult wouldn’t be sure if they were allowed to bring a plus one or not. It also makes them feel the love, knowing they are being thought of and included being invited to your special day with their own invitation.

This etiquette goes beyond weddings and is a general rule of thumb to follow for any special events - whether it is a family party, high school/college graduation, anniversary or birthday party. Even if it is a casual family birthday BBQ party over the Fourth of July, while you may not be sending out actual invites and instead just a text message invite, taking ten extra seconds sending an individual text message to each adult child goes a long way. Making sure they not only received the invite but knowing you truly want them there. It really is the thought that counts!

4. What can I wear to a wedding? Can I wear white?

Wearing white is a no-no as the bride is typically in white or wearing anything flashy that would upstage the bride, is one to shy away from too. The only time it would be acceptable to wear white is if the invitation specifies it is black and white attire. Pops of color such as red or pink or pretty patterns are perfectly acceptable, black is always the safest choice. Stay clear of denim, yoga pants, and wearing flip flops (unless of course, it is a beach wedding, then flip flops would suffice).

5. Do I have to send an invitation to someone, even if I know they can’t make it or live too far away?

Yes, you should always send an invitation to someone, even if you know they can’t make it. They may even surprise you, and decide to come. It’s better safe than to ruffle any feathers or hurt someone’s feelings. The same goes for your bridal shower. You always want to invite everyone who was invited to your shower, also to your wedding, even if it is a farther away or destination wedding.

6. Where do I cut-off the guest list of people to invite?

This is one of the most common questions I get from couples. The guest list is the first step in wedding planning right after you establish your budget, but can easily be the most dreaded task of planning. Figuring out who to invite, whether it is colleagues, co-workers, extended second cousins or friends of your parents they want you to invite but you hardly even know them.

After establishing your budget, this will give you a good idea of approximately how many guests you can afford to invite. Or maybe you have your mind set on having a small intimate affair with only 75-100 guests. Start out with your dearest and nearest - immediate family, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and closest friends. If your parents are footing a majority of the bill, you may want to be mindful and include the guests they want you to invite. If you are footing most of the bill, then it is completely up to you to not include those friends of parents unless you are close to them in current, real time.

Once you’ve narrowed down the A-list of guests, see where you are at. You could have a B-list if budget allows that could include long time friends you hardly see or talk to, co-workers you aren’t that close with etc. Typically, around 10% of your total number of guests or roughly 15 guests you can expect not to be able to attend, so you could use your B-list to invite a few others taking that into consideration.

And as mentioned above, the plus one etiquette of single guests. If your head is spinning and you’re stressed and need some additional help now or leading up to your wedding, as a Madison wedding planner, I have several different offerings, from complete wedding planning from the start, partial planning, event design and my most popular package - month of planning. Don’t hesitate to drop me a line, I’d love to chat more in depth about your wedding and see how I can help. Initial consults are complimentary. Cheers my lovelies!

Autumn Barn Wedding in the Countryside at Huser Farm

There really is something ultra romantic about an Autumn wedding, when the brisk air makes it's debut and the leaves turn golden as they begin to fall. Sophie and Spencer knew they wanted their wedding to be during this incredible time of year and also chose the groom’s parent’s exact same wedding date for theirs! With a color palette of blues and grays, wildflowers, cowboy boots, and an insanely gorgeous barn wedding venue at Huser Farm, located outside of Green Lake in the beautiful countryside, Sophie and Spencer’s Wisconsin farm wedding was pure perfection. With a color palette of blues and grays, wildflowers, cowboy boots, and an insanely gorgeous barn wedding venue at Huser Farm, located outside of Green Lake in the beautiful countryside, Sophie and Spencer’s Wisconsin farm wedding was pure perfection. It was an honor to be a part of their celebration and just icing on the cake to be entrusted as their wedding planner and florist, assuring everything ran seamlessly day of. So grab a hot toddy on this blizzardy winter day and browse this gallery below, captured by Dan Klapper Photography.

IMG_0286.jpg

Sophie and Spencer’s love affair all began with a little ol’ dating app called Tinder. Yup, that’s right, they swiped right into their happily ever after. With their love for hunting, the outdoors and more, Spencer proposed to Sophie while they were bear hunting, sitting out in their stand. It was only fitting when they set out planning their wedding, to have a farm wedding - and when we toured Huser Farm, they knew instantly that was their dream place to host their country wedding.

DSC_0467.jpg
DSC_0517.JPG

Sophie had her heart set on incorporating sunflowers and other freshly picked, in-season wildflowers for her bouquets. On Friday, the day before the wedding, I picked an array of golden rods, rough blazingstar, hydrangeas, and sunflowers and pieced together bouquets, with every other bridesmaid carrying a different color with their pretty navy blue dresses. I also curated boutonnieres and several bud vases of more pretty wildflowers for the cocktail hour that sat atop whiskey barrels in the restored milking parlor of the barn at Huser Farm.

IMG_0228.jpg
IMG_0256.jpg

Once a milking parlor, the lower part of the barn pictured here has been restored, where Sophie & Spencer hosted their cocktail hour. Brimming of charming character with weathered white wood, stone and brick walls was adorned with seasonal potted plants, pumpkins and flowers.

IMG_0007.jpg

For the outdoor ceremony design, I used hydrangeas for an accent piece on the left side of the birch arch and lined the aisle with wooden boxes and vintage watering cans filled with more hydrangea blooms. The insanely beautiful birch arch - that my lovelies - was custom built by the groom, Spencer and the bride’s father, Nathan. This was a beautiful idea Sophie and Spencer thought of, custom building decor pieces for their farm wedding to use long after the wedding for their dreamy forever home they are in the process of building.

For the barn reception, we used a mix of long and round tables with white linens, white chairs, centerpieces of wildflowers atop wood slices, deer antlers and whiskey bottles custom made and/or collected by the couple and the bride’s parents. Huser Farm provided sweeping drapery, lanterns and cafe lighting that helped curate a magical ambience.

Sophie and Spencer chose a tasty menu of their favorite foods from J’s BBQ, with brisket, pulled pork, chicken, mac n’ cheese, cole slaw, potato salad, pretzels, brioche, wheat rolls and chips n’ salsa. In lieu of a cake, they also had a dessert station filled with cheesecakes, cupcakes, and cake pops. They also had a self-serve margartia station with lime and strawberry flavors to offer their guests.
